It's Got to Be the Morning After

So imagine you have a job. And imagine you're really good at your job. You know it, your coworkers know it, and your bosses know it. Now imagine that there's a management position that opens up which would be a great promotion for you. So you apply for it. You think you would be great at the job, your coworkers think you would be great at the job and your friends think you would be great at the job. Now imagine that instead of you getting the job, the head of the company give it to some snot nosed punk straight out of school with no experience. Welcome to Rob Ryan's world.

-Now that Football Chris has weighed in on the Boy Wonder, let's take a look at what others are saying. Did you know he was turned down for the University of Minnesota job? Or that he was turned down for the Raiders Offensive Coordinator job?. Or that 'SC fans hated him?

Anyways, the word on the street has it that Al loved Kiffin's "attack philosphy" and the players are pretty happy. But they would say that-- we await Randy Moss' first reaction to be told what to do by somebody younger than he is. Gwen Knapp thinks that now that he's hired somebody, Al should just get out of the way while Ray Ratto wonders if he knows what he's in for. He's 31. What does he know?

Over at the Merc, Tim Kawakami says he's better than nothing, then is forced to say something positive after Raiders fans give him hell. Ann Killion still thinks Al is in denial..

As for yesterday's press conference, the reviews are, well mixed. Monte Poole thinks Kiffin's bravado ran false. He was outright panned in both Inside the Oakland Raiders and the Fanhouse. If you want the highlights, John Ryan sketches it out and is called pathetic by a Raiders fan.

We have a feeling this is going to be an interesting next couple of years in Raiders-land.

-Meanwhile, there are rumors that the Raiders might trade for Michael Vick. We think he's a perfect Raider-- incredibly talented and an incredible head case.

-The A's trade the Netherland's own Kirk Saarloos to the Reds for some minor leaguer. The move seen as a bit of a salary dump and they didn't really need him anyways but it still makes Athletics Nation get a little concerned about all the ch-ch-changes they've been seeing this offseason.

-Don Nelson has a fever-- Jasikevicius fever!

-Stephen Jackson might be in a little bit of trouble for breaking the law, breaking the law.

-And with tonight being the NHL All-Star game (good luck finding it on TV tonight), we ponder the Sharks. Mark Purdy praises Joe Thornton while Jonathan Cheechoo is looking forward to the second half.
