Norman Yee On The Mend

rallycrowd2.jpgGood news! San Francisco school board vice president Norman Yee is recovering nicely after being hit by a car the day after Christmas. The accident shattered his spine and crushed an artery in his neck.

Turns out Norman Yee is an avid salsa dancer, and was crossing Bryant and 4th that Tuesday with the light in his favor to get to a local club (maybe the Glas Kat?). Yee doesn't remember much about the accident, but thinks he saw the car and jumped to avoid it, which spared his legs from being broken but caused him to fly up onto the car's hood instead. Yee credits the driver for stopping and for not moving him after the accident, which kept his spinal nerves from being severed, and the doctors at SF General.

Yee is starting to walk again, but it's still questionable whether he'll get back full use of his left arm and hand (he's left-handed). He says he's hopeful, though. We hope he's back on the salsa dance floor soon!
