It's Got to Be the Morning After

Okay, here's something that we've always wondered about in football-- why don’t coaches in the final minutes of a football let the other team score to get the ball back instead of letting the other team run down the clock and kick the game-winning field goal? Just look at the Eagles/Giants game. The Eagles were in easy field goal range with about two minutes to go and the Giants out of time outs. So the Eagles just ran the clock out and won the game with a last second field goal, something that was pretty much inevitable. So what if instead of doing what they did, the Giants let Westbrook run it in for a TD with a minute or so left so they could get the ball back? Wouldn’t that make more sense than hoping that some sort of fluke play occurs? If you were a coach, would you rather take your chances hoping that the team that's driving either screws up the field goal, fumbles, or gets backed up due to penalties or would you rather take a chance with your offense scoring again?

-The Suns beat up on the Warriors, 128-105. Ten times the Warriors have played back-to-back games with the back end being on the road and ten times they've lost. One could make a general assumption about all that but we have a feeling most teams have stats like those on back-to-back games. Anyways, the team is back to .500 which prompted Nelson to say of his team "at best, we're just an ordinary team, as far as I can see."

-No Raiders or Niners were picked as All-Pros which shouldn't be that much of a surprise, actually. Well, except for Frank Gore.

-The Stanford men's basketball team beat University of Virginia.

-Mark Purdy thinks that Niners fans would rather watch a game in Santa Clara than on top of a toxic waste dump.

-The Raiders are all set to interview the assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach for Southern Cal, Steve Sarkisian.

-McCovey Chronicles has the low-down on all the Giants' big prospects.

I thought you were going to say something about the Warriors employing your football strategy of letting the other team score so they could get the ball back faster.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over last night's game though. Winning at Phoenix after playing at home the night before would have been a miracle.
