Delays: Not Just For BART Anymore

It turns out BART wasn't the only transit system having problems this week, MUNI was too. First up was the M which had problems when a tree was knocked over and onto one of those powerlines at Randolph and Byxbee streets. The trouble started last night and continued on until this morning when the power was finally restored. We remember back when we rode the N Judah and it seemed like everytime it rained, some branch knocked down a powerline, usually right by our stop. We also remember really hating it when that happened.

The other MUNI rail-line to experience trouble was the J which this morning also went down. The trouble there was not wind related, but an issue with the "pantograph." The pantograph is not something that measures people's pants but is the device that collects the electricity from the electric cables. That was also taken care of this morning and by a little after nine, fixed.

All things considering, if you're a public transit official and if you were going to have problems, this is probably a good week to have to deal with them. Not many people are around and those who are around and going to work probably don't care if they're late.

Sadly, we looked and there is, of yet, no "Snakes On a Lightrail." Maybe next year.
