SFist Blotter

20061218__18pot1_Gallery.jpgPot growing in the wild! Marin County has vowed to crack down on marijuana growers who have been sneaking onto state and federal public property to plant over $100 million worth of weed. The pot is located on both sides of Bolinas Ridge, and Point Reyes National Seashore says they spent over $10,000 to clean it all up. Authorities report seeing one plant that was 10 feet tall and covered with so many buds the stalk ran parallel to the ground.

Remember the husband of the Berkeley City Council member who shoved a meter maid when he got ticketed? He's in anger management classes now. A judge reduced his charge from a misdemeanor to an infraction, and he's written letters of apology to the meter maid and the parking enforcement department.

And here's a sad story out of San Jose -- an 18-year-old graduate of Presentation High School working as a nanny in Paris died when she accidentally fell off a balcony of her host family's building. The girl was locked out of the apartment, tried to climb down the building to a lower floor and fell. Her mother told the press that "it was absolutely bad judgment... It's a horrible, horrible accident." This is the second death in the mother's year -- the mother's fiance died of a heart attack at the Mercury News 10K race in March 2006.
