I'm Sorry, Did You Have A Question?

Ques-tion TIME! Ques-tion TIME!
Wow, Gavin really doesn't want to take your questions -- he won't even take live questions on this morning's Energy 92.7 commute-time show. (We tried listening to the .mp3s of Gavin's interview, but we had to stop listening when he started whining (.mp3) about how everyone was asking him about the 20-year-old girlfriend "that I never even kissed.") Poor Chris Daly, dialing up the station, only to get a busy signal. "All I wanted to do was request that dance remix of Christina Aguilera's 'Ain't No Other Man,' honest!"
While Chris Daly disconsolately settled for the Scissor Sisters on his dance radio dial, he and the rest of the Board of Supes got down to Question Time business last night. Sadly, they tabled the proposal to hold a board meeting at Newsom's January 13 "neighborhood meeting," and now we're back to just listing Newsom as "absent" on the Board of Supes agenda.

According to the Chron, the board was pretty insulted by Newsom's aides telling them the most they could offer was a nice spot at the table next to Gavin to answer community questions about homelessness. Peskin called it "governing by press release" and called Newsom "childish," and even Newsom's biggest supporter on the board, Sean Elsbernd, said, "I'm as frustrated as Supervisor Peskin is." Mayoral minder Peter Ragone tried his best to claim that the Supervisors were against dialogue with the public, but you could tell his heart wasn't really into it.
As a result of all this, Peskin now says he's now in favor of making Question Time mandatory for the mayor through a voter proposition on the ballot, which he had previously opposed. And Newsom seemed a little snappish when the topic came up, saying "I'm not going to take the bait."
You know, Newsom seems kind of snappish in general these days, between that Energy 92.7 snipe about how Brittanie doesn't put out, and complaining at his homelessness address that people only want to talk about his hair. Not true! We'd also love to talk to you about why you don't want to do Question Time, Mayor Newsom!
