W Magazine By The Numbers

wmagazine.jpgWe got a sneak preview of the Jan. 2007 W Magazine article about the San Francisco social life of the Gettys and the Trainas that's referenced in this week's Swells society column. Of course we're giving it the trademarked SFist Society By The Numbers treatment! The article's not online but you should be able to buy it on the newsstands by next week.

The number of ramekins Ann Getty is filling with souffle batter for San Francisco's newest social institution, Super Supper Sunday: 40.

The length of time Ann Getty's BFF Jo Schuman Silver has lived with Ann Getty: 3 years.

The private plane they call "the Jetty": A 727.

Square footage of the Getty mansion: over 50,000 square feet, which includes a recording studio for Gordon Getty and a private Montessori school for the Getty grandkids.

Stanlee Gatti count: 3 (described as "equal parts Robert Isabell and Ward McAllister." We don't even know what that means!)

Getty v. Traina: 81-54. A Getty blowout!

SFist count: One!!!!! "There's even a website, SFist.com, that keeps a running tally of each couple [Getty and Traina]'s mentions in the San Francisco Chronicle's must-read Swells column." But what about our Brittanie Mountz/Chris Daly/obsessive sports coverage?

Billy and Vanessa "Nessie" Getty

Billy's birth order: 4th of four sons. He's obsessed with Emperor Norton.

The percentage of PlumpJack that Billy owned with Gavin Newsom, before a business dispute led to a "deep rift" between the two and Gordon ended up buying Gavin out: 50%. The whole incident has led to bad feelings between Nessie and Gavin, and Vanessa now "barely speaks" to Gavin. "She's like a dog with a bone," noted one family friend.

Number of mentions of the fact that Billy Getty dated Kimberly Guilfoyle before she dumped him for Gavin: 0.

The number of silver spoons Vanessa got from mother in law Ann Getty after Vanessa refused to travel to Paris with Ann to supplement her (Vanessa's) trousseau: 1. (Vanessa clarified the record in response to say she got the rest of the Tiffany place settings later.)

Trevor and Alexis Traina

Number of invitations received by Trevor Traina and his wife Alexis to Vanessa Getty's party for Graydon Carter: 0. "One [guest] even likened it to a shoulder block to the competition, saying, 'This means war. Vanessa doesn't know what she's started.'" In retaliation, the Trainas seated Vanessa Getty next to Jerry Brown at their party for Diane von Furstenburg.

Cost of Trevor Traina's house: $15 million.

Number of Trevor and Alexis Traina wedding parties described in the article: 3. Trevor's mother Dede Wilsey was not invited to wedding party number 2 (a small dinner where Trevor's father and Dede's ex-husband was present), and made a speech at wedding party 3 (at the DeYoung) that mostly chronicled how bad her Oh The Glory Of It All year had been and didn't really talk about Trevor. In retaliation, Trevor gave a toast where he thanked Stanlee Gatti before thanking his mother.

Dede Wilsey

Dede Wilsey count: 12.

Gavin Newsom count: 4.

Charlotte Maillard Shultz count: 0.

Holy shit! Do the Getty's have so much money that they're blowing it on crazy stuff like grafting a horses head onto a siamese? (first picture)

Jeremy...

Good call!!

It was the first thing I noticed!!

So i've only been in the city about 2.5 years, and as a poor grad student, I don't get to run in the high society circles of these people pictured...

so who are they? what do they do? are they important? how can I make fun of them?

"how can I make fun of them?"

Those pictures alone should provide ample fodder for mockery.

That picture of Dede Wilsey makes me wonder if the photographer would have taken that shot if her maid/housekeeper had been black or Latina.

Way to go, Dede. Bask, bask in that (emerald) wealth!

Gavin's new girl and "nessie" look alike.

Don't forget her brief marriage to the Fairmont family: Charlotte Maillard SWIG Schultz.

Just read Oh the Glory of it All. You'll never look at Dede or Trevor the same way again. Or maybe you will.

Oh, Dede... it's soooo hard to find good white help these days.
