Let's All Go to the Movies

Life%20of%20Brian%20web2.jpgThere's really nothing opening this week, we guess because most of the studios are waiting for next week to bring out the big Christmas/Oscar Bait movies. In fact, this might be the most unspectacular week of movie openings all year. In other words, it's looking like a good time to rent that DVD you've always wanted to. Or play around with On Demand. Or do something totally wacky like read a book.

The one big movie this week is The Nativity Story." the story of Mary, Joseph and little baby Jesus. We somehow don't think this Jesus will be depicted in this movie as singing onstage with Lynard Skynard Of course, the point of this movie is strike the same gold that "The Passion of the Christ " did because Hollywood thinks Christians will see anything that's semi-religious but that might not be true of this movie. In fact, the only controversy over this movie is because the actress had a very public non-God-related pregnancy.

Let's see, other than that, there's Turistas-- this week's slasher movie, a movie about AIDS in Africa that should be a laugh riot, a John Waters one-man show flick, another Morgan Freeman movie (it's been what, a month since his last movie?) and a sequel to Van Wilder.

As for us, we're thinking we're going to catch up on "Heroes."
