Crash Into Everywhere

mn_bus_crash_sc101.jpgContinuing with our theme of mayhem in the streets, we have news of two accidents today, one involving a death.

Today in San Francisco, there was a hit-and-run that left one dead and three hurt. This all occurred late last night, around 12:30 AM when a minivan traveling north on Laguna Street went through a red light at Fulton Street and hit a cab. The cab then spun out, hit a pole, and then collided into a parked car. The driver then fled the scene and was arrested later somewhere in the East Bay. Most of the people hurt in the accident worked at Bar Crudo sushi restaurant.

Also today, a UC Davis bus flipped over on U.S. Highway 50, causing five lanes to be closed and traffic to go for miles. The accident occurred on Highway 50 where it merges with the Interstate 80 at Jefferson Blvd. Luckily, there were only minor scrapes and there were no major injuries.

is it just me or has running red lights become more and more commonplace in sf lately? not a day goes by where i don't see people zooming thru reds, often pretty late, as in, not just catching the tail end of yellow but going thru the light after it flipped to red.

This is a real tragedy. I hope people realize that saving less than a minute by running through the red light you could pay with someone's life. She had just turned 31 and is missed by a lot of people.
