It's Got to Be the Morning After
Rams 20 49ers 17- At the end of the first half in the game against the Eagles a couple of months ago, Mike Nolan was faced with a decision on whether to go for it on fourth down and inches or kick a field goal. He went for the field goal and was criticized by some of the Faithful for doing so, mainly because they were convinced the Niners were on the verge of rallying and going for it might have swung Big Mo there way. In yesterday's game, Nolan was faced with a similiar decision, this time in the fourth quarter and ahead 14-13, and once again went for the field goal. This time, it might have cost them the game as they lost on a last minute TD. Bring on the controversy. It must be said too that a team that at one point was looking almost as bad as last year's travesty is now in a situation where there's huge debate over a coaching decision and whether or not it cost them a game. Why? Because when you get blown out a lot, it doesn't matter. These things matter now.
And for the record, we think he should have gone for it. Teams don't become winners until they act like winners. No guts, no glory.
Chargers 21 Raiders 14- It was a fourth down play that everyone will be talking about in this game too. Because the Chargers, who won, did go for it. The Chargers, BTW, are also a first place team. First place teams go for it. ANYWAYS, on the play, the Chargers receiver Vincent Jackson caught the pass and immediately started to celebrate by spinning the ball. Unfortunately for him, the play hadn't been whistled dead yet and it was ruled a turnover. Fortunately for him, the call of it being a turnover was overruled. Unfortunately for him, the call overruling the call was overruled. Fortunately for him, the call overruling the overruling of the overrule was itself overruled. Chargers ball. A few players later, Chargers scored and tied the game. Raiders fans are smelling conspiracy and blaming the call for the Black & Silver's loss. Of course, only scoring 14 points helps a team lose the game. So does throwing two interceptions in the fourth quarter.
Same old Raiders, only more so.
