Who's Defending Newsom Now!

Because we've started the column "Who's Attacking Newsom Now!", we figure it's only right to start the counterpoint column next: Who's Defending Newsom Now!. So who's Mayor McDreamy got on his side? (beside these young ladies in the picture above, that is!):
--Ken Garcia!: The Examiner columnist looks for the silver lining (.pdf, page 5) on the gloomy month that Newsom's been having. Ed Jew'll vote with Gavin on the Board of Supervisors (even if he's not Doug Chan), and no one could have beaten Chris Daly (even though nobody likes him), and maybe Gavin'll use this opportunity to fight fight fight!
--Carole Migden!: As Senator Feinstein works to try and broker a deal with the Niners, Migden's been rallying local support for Newsom (and requesting less dissent) to see if they can make this deal happen.
--Local Asian-American leaders!: Newsom was asked to speak with 30 prominent local Asian-Americans to discuss their support of Police Chief Heather Fong and their disagreement with the Board of Supes veto override. Newsom says, "They called me because they wanted to meet with me today, because they wanted to express their support for our chief." (Why'd Newsom call Japanese-American PD Jeff Adachi Chinese, though?)
--JROTC supporters and people going to the Tenacious D show last night!: Newsom brainstormed with newly-elected School Board member Hydra Mendoza and students supporting the JROTC program to figure out if there was any way to get around the school board decision. After the meeting, Newsom gamely posed for pictures with Tenacious D fans outside the Bill Graham, but told reporters, "I feel more powerless than I've been feeling lately. It's frustrating, very frustrating."
