Ques-tion TIME! Ques-tion TIME!

questiontime1.jpgSo, everyone's been asking us (okay, only two people have asked, but still) -- SFist Rita, what will you write about now that the District 6 election is over? Is there even any doubt? We are throwing our blogger weight (such as it is) behind -- getting Gavin Newsom to show up for QUESTION TIME!!!

We don't know about you, but we were totally shocked when Proposition I won at the polls -- with 56.03% of the vote -- like how we were totally shocked that Jeffrey won Project Runway. We mean, sure, we were pulling for the guy (even though he seemed like kind of an ass at times), but not with the expectation he would actually win. We totally thought Uli had it in the bag!

Anyways, where were we? Oh yes, Question Time. So Prop I makes it "voter policy" that the mayor should show up to a Board of Supes meeting once a month and "engage in formal policy discussions." Unfortunately, it doesn't require Gavin to show up, it just strongly suggests that he should. Gavin's never attended any board meetings since becoming the mayor, declined to attend the meeting where the issue was debated, and he came out against the proposition during the election.

So what's to make him show up at all? That's right -- public outcry! We've gotta keep up the pressure for Gavin to accede to the will of the people! He's gotta show up for Question Time! Does anyone know when the first Question Time Board of Supes meeting will be scheduled? Will Chris Daly, Ross Mirkarimi, Tom Ammiano, and Geraldo Sandoval (your "hosts") send Gavin another e-vite to attend? What can we do to make this happen?

Anyways, never fear, folks -- your Political Junkie's on it. Check back with us to find out what the latest is on making Proposition I a reality -- and hey, in the meantime, let Gavin know you want him to show up!

i hope this is a joke.

Joke or no, we want Channel 26 Gavin Question Time! He can even bring his latest TV star date to add to the glamour of the occasion.

I'm sorry I thought I clicked on sfist.com instead of ever increasingly leftist fogcityjournal.com.
I mean its great to be all joking and hah hah funny with your political coverage - it totally makes you seem less like someone who is a blatant daly apologist and campaign contributor (I know, you begged the other candidates to send something in !)
Great job keeping it relevant, fair, and balanced sfist!

What's leftist about being excited to see how this plays out? Mayor Newsom has invited scrutiny on this topic by previously touting "the will of the voters". A majority of San Franciscans would like to see him (and presumably other mayors after) engage our Board of Supervisors in policy debate. Seems reasonable enough to me. And also likely that his previous opposition indicates this will become a news item.

SFist has always been partisan on the issue of laughing at/with Gavin Newsom, I'll readily admit (we're for it!) -- though I should also point out that Question Time was endorsed by that leftist pro-Daly rag the San Francisco Chronicle too.

Aw, Bob, where were you when we blogged about this at the Chronicle? Is everyone who covers Question Time a "blatant Daly apologist"? I will be so excited if you say "yes"!

I expect Mayor Newsom to turn his nose up to this like he has been doing to the rest of the city.

I have a Question.
