It's Monday-- Do You Know Where Your Football Team Is?
There's another plan being worked out to keep the Niners at bay near the bay and this plan is moving the locaton of the new stadium to Hunter's Point. Currently, the ill-fated plan is to have the new football stadium built pretty much right where the stadium is now. The benefits are plenty of land to be had and York won't have to worry about ugly construction being conducted near Candlestick. The disadvantages, well, we can't think of any right now but we'll get back to you when they're figured out.
All that talk of wanting to develop housing and what not turns out not to be the major problem. In fact, Matier & Ross are saying that York doesn't really want to do that and just mainly wants the stadium built. His complaint can mainly be narrowed down to two things. First is that there's not enough room for parking. And second, Gavin wasn't nice enough to him.
The first issue can be solved by the move to Hunter's Point. The second, well, Gavin is promising to be nice now and to actually take his calls and Jesus, Gavin can't you at least take a phone call now and then? You are the Mayor after all. Also, all the Supervisors have apparently been told to keep a muzzle on it as York hasn't appreciated all the nasty things said about him. Shockingly, York said he wasn't expecting all the kerfluffe to arise when he announced the move to Santa Clara and was taken back by all the negative stuff thrown his way. Seriously, is this dude like thirteen? What was he expecting? "Well, okay, John, that sounds great, go move." Or "You know, we don't like the idea but since you're such a swell fella, we'll let you move." We don't think Art Modell has ever set foot in Cleveland after he took the team to Baltimore and there are people in Baltimore who still curse the people who moved the Colts.
To think-- none of this would have happened if Gavin only picked up the phone every once in awhile.
