49ers 20 Seahawks 14-- Clang, clang, clang goes the 49ers bandwagon as this is the biggest win in franchise history in God who knows how long. Probably back when Mariucci was the coach and the playoffs were a semi-regular thing. They beat, we mean beat, not only the top team in the division but also last year's Superbowl losers. The Niners raced to a twenty point lead in the first half then basically held onto dear life as the 'Hawks kept on knocking on the end zone door. Your game balls go to Frank Gore who ran for 212 yards and the D who kept the Seattle Blue Men scoreless three times in the last 4 1/2 minutes. This was a real nail-biter, the kind of game that makes one hate sports, in that Seattle made it close and then threatened again and again and again but couldn't do it. Frank Gore even fumbled away the ball with a few minutes left, a huge boo-boo, but the Niners still held. Wowzers
You know what this means, of course, more Mike Nolan in suits. Actually, Niners fans would probably call for him to wear one every week but we like the idea of only busting it out on special occasions. Like Notre Dame and their green unis. Or how the Browns and the Cowboys only wore their dark uniforms for the biggest of the big games. It’ll become a thing.
Chiefs 17 Raiders 13-- One only has to wonder what the Raiders season would be like if it wasn't for their D. While their offense is historically inept, their D is good enough to keep them in most games. This was one of those games. In fact, the Raiders held a 13-10 lead up to the last minute of the game before they gave way to a Chiefs touchdown. Then they almost rallied but Andrew Walters (replacing Aaron Brooks who suffered yet another injury) threw an interception in the end zone as time ran out. Walters actually did a great job of bringing the Raiders downfield, getting them to the Chiefs eight yard line but that's when Walters threw the INT. It was the third game this season they had a lead late only to lose in the end. And for anyone wondering why we call the Raiders dumb it's because of things like this: on the winning drive, the Chiefs went for it on a 4th and one and got it largely because of a fifteen yard face masking penalty. Commitment to Excellence indeed.
Worse yet for the Raiders, Lamont Jordan is out for the season.

Loved the suit...
The NFL is only letting him wear it for 2 games this year. So he'll be limited to big games whether he likes it or not. Apparently they want him wearing Reebok apparel they can sell. But honestly, do they really think Bill Belichick looks better in his bum gear?
As has been pointed out, it was Brooks who threw the INT (something he's been noted in doing). I just remember looking up and seeing Walters come in and then I paid just enough attention to not see Brooks come back in.
