We Read The Weeklies

ebx1115.jpgLast week's winner, the East Bay Express. Rad dream cartoon this week. Feeding your pets raw meat. Are people trying to sneak into the Berkeley school system? Cover article: not sending juvies to jail. The Dixie Chicks play Oakland this Friday. The Slits are in town. A review of Xyclo -- Oakland Vietnamese restaurant, with a cool name. Old people went to the Rolling Stones show. And Tenacious D.

Next up: the Bay Guardian. Nancy Pelosi does not exemplify Tim Redmond's San Francisco values. Ha ha, Newsom lost last week. Cover: The Richmond San Rafael Bridge is not a safe place to work. Events: Turn of the (20th) century porn, Nina Hartley, and a new band by the former lead singer of Bratmobile. A Stanford band called The F***ing Ocean. New Joanna Newsom album out -- only five songs on the album (one is over 16 minutes long). Marke B wants whatever drugs Nancy Pelosi is on. The Slits are in town. Graphic designers competition! Mistakes made by Paul Reidinger. L.E. Leone's date won't put out. And Bevan Dufty's horoscope: He should assert the boundaries that are appropriate for him.

After the jump: The Metro, the SF Weekly, and the Weekly of the Week!

The Metro: Gary Singh had to wait a long time to renew his passport. Ted Rall still hates Bush. Also, did you know the company flying those "rendition" flights to Syria to violate human rights is based in San Jose? Cover article: The Metro is thrilled! that Chuck Reed won the SJ mayor's race. Clean government for everyone! Ramen in Cupertino. We're slightly disappointed there's no mention of the Slits coming to town. Organic baby food. Reclaim metal! And the Straight Dope: do airbags pollute the environment? (yes.)

And the SF Weekly: Get to know your sunshine law advocates! Cover article: They're still chasing after the Black Panthers. Final Fantasy XII. Theater critic didn't like the adaptation of Hamlet to Oakland. Meredith discusses words with "an erotic impact" for her. We flee to SFist Ced in fear! Dubstep and -- hey! The Slits are coming to town! Also, the Pound SF is closing. If we ever meet any of you readers in person, remind us to tell you our story about one time we went to the Pound SF, for an ill-fated Battle of the Bands performance. And Dan Savage is excited about booting Rick Santorum.

Weekly of the Week: It's the Bay Guardian! We were surprised they didn't gloat more about the election, though.

The Bay Guardian wouldn't be actually happy unless elections were won by parties such as the Socialist Workers' Party or the Maoists (maybe also the Greens, but Krissy didn't do so well in this year's congressional election).
