There was a sewage spill on Ocean Beach last night. Wasn't Daniela Kirschenbaum just talking about this? A manhole cover blew out around 11 p.m., which allowed not only water but what we'll delicately call "SFSOS effluvia" to leak onto the beach. The affected area is about 150 feet of the beach, from the base of the Cliff House going west.
There's a whooping cough outbreak at Palo Alto High -- one student managed to give it to two members of the cross-country team. Now students at Palo Alto High are being told to stay home for 5 days if they're put on antibiotics. Oh, you wacky high-achieving kids -- the school nurse reports that she's had to send a number of students home because they tried to come back to school too early. "I gotta make that advanced AP French quiz!" (The CDC has been encouraging everyone between the ages of 11 and 64 to get a booster shot of the vaccine too.)
...and there was a "suspicious" three-alarm fire on 20th Street in Potrero Hill last night, and the man who shot the two people in Japantown the other weekend pled not guilty.

Paly (Palo Alto High) never fails to make me proud.
What does the VHS box for MGreed have to do with this post? Just wondering.
For the last few years, the SFist Blotter clip art has been of San Francisco crime in pop culture, and Greed's a movie set in San Francisco about crime. Here's a list of the pictures we've used.
That said, I'm about to run out of pop culture crime references and am trying to think of what pictures to start using instead. Any suggestions? It's not always possible to find pictures to match up to the blotter entries, which is why I lit on the local crime pop culture angle in the first place.
