First, the excitement of the election, and now the excitement of a (for many people) three day weekend.
More excitement!
Movies: Third I South Asian Film Festival, In Debt We Trust by Danny Schecter Friday and Saturday night, Hardcore Viewmaster on Saturday night, early Werner Herzog shorts at SF MoMA, Saturday afternoon, and New Italian Cinema all day Sunday.
Book Parties: Friday at the Cartoon Art Museum, Just Like Heaven, which is a children's book about animals, and has nothing to do with The Cure, we don't think; RE/Search's Pranks 2 party on Saturday; party and reading for a new novel at the Edinburgh Castle by the dude from the Dwarves, also on Saturday; and again on Saturday, more Writers With Drinks; Beat poets Diane DiPrima, Michael McClure and others read at the Berkeley Art Museum on Sunday afternoon.
Other Stuff: Pink Week, Mob of Waldos, Why we study monkeys, "more or less 3,480 seconds," a video art show at Root Division, and "Life Aquatic," lowbrow painting show at Varnish, where we're betting on some mermaid action.

Here's another event for those folks who blog or who read blogs: the Bay Area Resident Bloggers And Readers (or BARBARians) are gathering at Zeitgeist (199 Valencia St, SF) Saturday afternoon to celebrate the Dem victory this week. All are invited to come join us in a few beers and lots of gloating. Come on down!
