Ranked Choice Election Results-- Not Just For District 6 Anymore

ba_dudum_0098a_fl.jpgThere's another district where a winning candidate has yet to be named and that's District 4. This race has been a little under the radar as it hasn't involved candidate's wives telling lobbying groups what they could do with themselves or sock puppets. Nevertheless, it's quite a humdinger as there are three candidates who are neck and neck and neck-- Ron Dudum, Ed Jew, and Jaynry Mak are within just a few percentage points of each other (Dudum has 27 percent, Jew has 25 percent, and Mak has 22 percent). Doug Chan, Gavin's guy, has only 16 points so unless he gets a lot of #2 picks, he's probably out of it and will get eliminated as they move more into the ranked choice tallies. Hey, this whole thing is kind of like in English Premiere League soccer where the losing candidates get relegated.

You know, we kind of like this ranked voting thing. And not just because it saves us from run-off campaigns which tend to drag the election cycle out longer than a plot-line on "Lost." It's because it's like a Special Olympics type thing in that everyone wins! If you vote for one guy, you can still put all the other one's down and not feel bad about choosing one over the other.

This election was a bit of a surprise because Chan, a former police commissioner, had the big name and the endorsements but the guy in the lead, Ron Dudum, is more conservative and not Asian, meaning a victory for him would mean no Asian Supervisor for the first time in 25 years. As for Jew, a community activist, SFist is kind of wishing he'd stay for a little bit longer only because of all the great headlines we could write, like "Jew Votes for More Police" or "It's the Running of the Jew," or "Jew Loves Wagner."

Either way, final tallies are expected sometime today. Probably just as we post this.

Jon,

Trust me on this one, guy. Stay away from the 'Jew' headlines. Say 'Zionist'.

What's this about? Jew was a Republican until last year, and isn't even a resident of the sunset! I hear he lives on the Peninsula somewhere??? Any info??

At the expense of this getting really out of control and venturing into some unfunny, anti-semitic crap, allow me to try and humorously add on:

"Jew Finds Bargain In City Contract"

"Jew's Most Vocal Constituent Is Mother"

"Jew One Of The Board's Most Argumentative"

"Jew Frequents Chinese Restaurant"

"Disaster Strikes Jew, Again"
