We Read The Weeklies

ebx111.jpgLast week's winner, the East Bay Express. DAMN Choreography objects to an article about them with the title "Tits and Assets." It's their special East Bay politics issue! Political bloggers wreaking havoc in Alameda, that Democrat running against Pombo might actually win, hipsters are voting for Aimee Allison. The EBX recommendations, plus a genius move -- polling people about fake propositions. We liked the school vending machine tax to go to anti-bullying programs, and the requirement that the voter info guide be written at a 6th grade reading level the best. Jonestown the documentary is opening. Sichuan food in Fremont. A Rock The Voter blows off learning about the propositions to tool around town. And the Sunday morning rap radio show on KALX has been cancelled.

Next up, the SF Weekly! Matt Smith watches a movie starring the porn star Rob Black with the District 6 candidate Rob Black. Funny, but ewwwww. And then Rob wouldn't let Matt turn the movie off! Okay, that went too far -- now we're grossed out. Cover article: Yaoi comics, where Japanese girls love them some male homoerotic anime. Hey, SFist MattyMatt talked about that almost two years ago! New Dance Dance Revolution game, which is just okay. The Borat movie's gonna RULE. Meredith Brody has steak in North Beach. SFist Ced loses his mind. A local cellist records a tribute to the studio space she had on Natoma Street until she was evicted. Ha ha, a review of Mouse on Mars entitled "Immodest Mouse." And Dan Savage says not to vote for Rick Santorum.

After the jump: the Bay Guardian and the Metro, along with the Weekly of the Week!

Next up, um... the Bay Guardian. It's their endorsements issue! Vote for the floating heads on their cover (and print the endorsement sheet). Tim Redmond: Prop 90 still sucks. Can we prosecute Jim Sutton for the negative ads in District 6? In the blogs, Steven T. Jones breaks his editorial silence about his "squeeze" Alix Rosenthal to talk about Halloween. Aww, he really loves that girl! Prop 90: still sucks. Impeach Bush. Johnny Ray Huston goes to the Vancouver Film Festival. Sonic Reducer on Budget Rock. Jazz Fest. Box wine! The Borat movie is gonna RULE. And SFist's horoscope: We are a mom with postpartum depression that's about to abandon its baby. Who's SFist's baby?

And finally, the SJ Metro: Also election focused! We don't get a single reference in this Fly, but there's something about child molesters. Tom Lehrer comes to town. Go Spartans! Evaluating the fashion choices of the SJ mayoral candidates. The Borat movie rules. And the vegetarian finished her month-long stint of veganism.

Weekly of the Week: Pick up the weekly corresponding to your election precinct and study it carefully for advice on how to vote! Meanwhile, we're giving the Weekly of the Week this week to the one weekly that doesn't give you any advice at all -- the SF Weekly! Mostly because we're amused that they hit so many SFist obsessions all in one place this week (we totally broke that Rob Black the porn star story ages ago! MUST CREDIT SFIST!!!) Even though we're still totally skeeved out by the idea of Rob Black watching porn with Matt Smith.
