Everybody Hates Chris: The District 6 Election

DSC05757.jpgEverybody hates Chris -- but everyone loves a charticle! This week's episode: Everybody Hates The Negatives.

So much negative information these days! Does Rob Black really hate unions? Does Chris Daly take dirty money? Does Matt Drake shamelessly pander to baby-lovers? (Congratulations on your new nephew, Matt!)

It's just so hard to keep it all straight -- who's saying what about whom now? So we here at SFist have generously put together our Chart Of Negativity, after the jump. It's broken down by category, with winners picked in each. In the comments -- add your favorite counterexamples and yell at us for not agreeing with you!

Now, let's see if we can find where we keep all those html table templates.....

TopicRob Black (and/or the SFSOS/SFPOA)Chris Daly (and/or SF progressives)Winner
EthicsChris Daly sent $600 worth of mailers to his constituents (that were pre-cleared by the Ethics Commission). The SEIU through Robert Haaland this week just sent a negative mailer on Chris's behalf.People allied with Rob Black broke through the voluntary spending cap with $83,000 worth of negative ads (many of which were anonymous) against me in the last 6 weeks. Also, Haaland's on vacation this week.Daly. C'mon, Haaland's on vacation.
Bad BehaviorThe SFSOS on Black's behalf disrupting the League of Women Voters debate; the SFPOA on Black's behalf saying they'd never sit down and talk to Daly. Also, ethical violations (see above). This election cycle: To our great disappointment, nothing. 2005: Yelling at Supervisor McGoldrich about MUNI, yelling at Supervisor McGoldrick about tsunami aid, yelling at a MUNI officer. 2004: Yelling at TIC owners at a Board of Supes meeting, getting almost-censured (review of other incidents in the last link.) And 2002: Yelling at the cops.Black takes this one in a landslide.
SnidenessThe SFPOA making t-shirts about not sitting down with Chris DalyEviting Newsom to a meeting about his police budget request. We keep going back and forth on this one! Black, but we're torn about it. That evite was pretty funny.
Newsom's police budget requestChris Daly won't approve Gavin Newsom's budget request. (.pdf) Rob Black supports a budget request that was rejected by the San Francisco budget analyst as unsupported and premature.Daly. Dude, it was rejected by the budget analyst!
CrimeDistrict 6 is unsafe.Newsom controls the cops, but I approved a huge budget for them. Also, Rob Black doesn't support anti-violence prevention programs.Newsom.
HousingChris Daly wants to make it impossible for you to buy a home.Rob Black wants to make it easier to evict you. We're so not getting in the middle of this one.
HomelessnessChris Daly wants the homeless to pee on your streets.Rob Black doesn't care about poor people.Again, we're so not getting in the middle of this one.
Special Interest MoneyChris Daly takes money from developersRob Black takes money from downtown.Tie (yawn).
YouTubeChris Daly is a rhinoceros lover.Gavin Newsom dates an underage sock puppet drinker.Daly totally wins this one. But you know we love his background music.
HypocrisyChris Daly says he's all holier than thou but he takes special interest money and makes deals with people all the time.Rob Black's all pretending to be ethical and squeaky-clean but his people spent $83K on ads that misrepresent my record.GAAAH. This is what it sounds like, when doves cry.
Coolness factorChris Daly is a dork and a thug.Rob Black is a tool.SFist! This has been the funnest election EVER.
