Day Around the Bay

-On a cold, wintery afternoon that probably matched how A's fans are feeling right now, the A's went down to the Tigers 3-0 to now be down in the series 3-0. It happens every year in baseball come playoff time-- one team gets in explicably hot and can do no wrong (the '02 Angels, the '03 Marlins, the '04 and '05 Sox) and that this year is the Tigers. The A's, meanwhile, appear to be in that vicious playoff cycle in which hitting becomes almost impossible so the team presses and makes hitting even that much more impossible. Yeah, it's not over til it's over and the '04 Red Sox famously came from behind by an 0-3 margin, but....

-14 year old Sacramento girl gets a visit by the Men in Black for writing "Kill Bush" on her My Space page, hating the Killers.

-Store owner who shot suspected shoplifter attacked in jail.

-Santa Cruz and Huntington Beach fight over the name Surf City. Duuuude.

-Broadway Tunnel to be closed early part of Sunday morning evening for the filming of car chase scene for a movie.

-With nothing else going on in the city, the San Francisco Board of Supes weigh in against BART selling ad space to alcohol advertising.

-The A's and the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority (OACCA?) sign a new lease ensuring their will be no Fremont A's until at least 2010.

- Puff Daddy, Puffy, P. Diddy, Diddy comes to SF to promote his new cd, meets the Chron's Aidin Vaziri. Vaziri wins.

-Lou Pinella doesn't want to manage the Giants next season. We thought he would make a lousy pick anyways.
