SFist Blotter

popyacollar.jpgSpecial single-issue Blotter today -- there's a bad situation brewing in the Bay Point.

On Wednesday afternoon, one of the owners of the store "Pop Ya Collar" was arrested for shooting a woman he suspected of shoplifting shoes. To be more specific, when the owner realized he'd been robbed by a group of five people, he grabbed his gun, ran outside, and fired shots into the window of the getaway car the group was driving away in. He hit one girl, who was admitted to SF General with non-life-threatening injuries. The owner was arrested and booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon. The owner is Arab-American.

Early Thursday morning, the store was firebombed. The arson team thinks someone threw a Molotov cocktail into the window, which caused about $25,000 damage to the merchandise and $50,000 to the store itself. The shooter's brother, who also owns the store, didn't want to talk about the shooting, but did mention that his brother had purchased the gun after having been robbed at gunpoint about two months ago.

The owner of the building says, "Let me find out who did it and I will find my revenge. It's wrong to shoot the girl. But this is my building."
