There's something for everyone in the city tonight. If you want to hear pop rhymes from a new UK export, Popscene presents Lily Allen with Guest DJ Mark Ronson at 330 Ritch. For some glam-cabaret, see The Dresden Dolls and The Red Paintings at Bimbo's for the first of two nights. The National play grim indie rock at Great American. The naughty locals in Luxxury have a sultry CD release at Bottom of the hill with Thunderbirds Are Now (note that You Say Party We Say Die had to cancel after they couldn't get past the border). At Slim's you can hear some weather-worn and weary indie folk when Rocky Votolato and William Elliot Whitmore open for Lucero.

On Friday catch two great Barsuk Records bands when The Long Winters and What Made Milwaukee Famous play Cafe Du Nord. King of the phrase-names Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is at the Warfield with openers Takka Takka. One of our favorite discoveries of '06, Mew, open for Kasabian at the Independent.

On Saturday, don't be fooled by the terrible name of Margo and the Nuclear So and So's, because their music is great. They open for The Elected at Cafe Du Nord. Congratulate Bing Ji Ling on the occasion of their record release at Rickshaw Stop. The boys in Electric Six make you dance and laugh at The Independent with openers Aberdeen City. Check out our old interview with singer Dick Valentine, and a new interview is just around the corner so stay tuned.

On Monday catch Ladytron at the Fillmore and on Tuesday Austinist favorites Ghostland Observatory are at Cafe Du Nord. Wednesday wants you to broaden your scope by seeing the limitless creativity of Matmos at Great American (visuals, acoustic harps, grand pianos and more), or by seeing some of that kook-folk by Entrance when he plays at Rickshaw Stop with openers White White Quilt, Mariee Sioux and Joseph Childress.
