Day Around the Bay

-Another Caltrain fatality, yesterday around 6. It's the thirteenth this year.

-McAfee is your latest hi-tech company to have a CEO go down due to stock shenanigans.

-Governorator and Gavin spray champagne at first landing of Virgin Airways at SFO. Shout out goes to Luke Thomas for ever more dorky pictures of Mayor McDreamy. Check out the photo of him either moving into fighting position or about to do the cha-cha. We just don't know what the hell he's doing there.

-When not spraying champagne all over himself and the Governor, Gavin just says no to taxi cab hikes.

-And unwittingly gives support to Arnie's campaign.

-Beyond Chron doesn't like the whole turning the Mint into a museum thing. Not one bit.

-And nobody seems to like Pete Wilson anymore for his comments against the Dufty-Goldfaber baby.

-Tigers get to Esteban Loaiza to go up 2-0 in the ALCS by winning 8-5. It was one of those types of games that makes you really hate baseball-- down by three in the bottom of the ninth, the A's load the bases with Frank Thomas up only to have Thomas fly out to the end game. We'll have a recap of the game coming later today.

-And Deadspin has a great story about what happens to all those people on the field before big baseball games. No, they do not get to stick around and watch the game.

That portrait of Gavin painted by Grace Slick in the Fog City Journal pictures is killer.
