SFist Tonight: 10-6 = Busy

float_21grand.jpg
As yesterday's post listed nary an East Bay event, we're making up for it today:

We are going to be on 25th St. in Oakland for 21 Grand's Illuminated Corridor event, a collision of live music and media on the theme of mobility taking place in the street with projections on most available surfaces, with 50 or so artists and musicians. (SFist Sarah L will be cruising around the Oakland Art Murmur with Neighborhood Public Radio .) The spectacle is free and starts at 7:11pm (25th St. at Broadway).

If like many of us, you're a bit confused about Oakland geography or just want to learn more, you should check out the WE Riders exhibit at Pro Arts Gallery(550 2nd St. near Jack London Square). Artists Sue Mark and Bruce Douglas rode a tandem bicycle around Oakland asking willing bystanders to geographically locate West and East Oakland. Come by tonight for the artists' reception (i.e. free food and beverage) from 6-8pm.

In San Francisco tonight
We've already plugged the big Litquake bash featuring Lars Ulrich from Metallica going on at the Regency Ballroom (VanNess @ Sutter). We think everyone should wear Hawaiian shirts and not tell him.
But if you're looking for a cheaper lit-punk fix, check out the long running Poetry and Pizza series with readings plus music at Escape from New York Pizza downtown (333 Bush @ Montgomery) tonight at 7:30 pm. Tonight's show is a benefit for the Prisoner's Literature Project and features old school punk, Jennifer Blowdryer, whose new guide, Good Advice for Young Trendy People of All Ages, has just been published by Manic D Press. $5 donation plus all-you-can-eat pizza.

frak lars ulrich.

Frank "Dr. Frank" Portman is part of the opening night stuff at Litquake, and he's a) a hell of a lot more talented of a musician and b) his book King Dork kicked ass.

In regards to Dr. Frank, that should be "hella" more talented. We were quite the MTX fan in our early 20s.

No. Nothing should ever be "hella" anything.
