SFist Tonight - High Minded Monday

Two films about the Middle East involving food:
"AnTEAcipation" screens at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (701 Mission St. @ 3rd) as part of the SF World Music Festival. This documentary takes a gradual, personal approach to the role of tea growing on the Laz people of Turkey. The 8pm screening is preceded by a lecture on the Laz that starts at 7pm.
"Border Café (Café Transit)" is an Iranian film about a tradition-defying widow who re-opens her late husband's roadside diner on the Iranian border with Turkey. This free screening at the San Francisco Art Institute (800 Chestnut St.) is part of the Global Lens Film Festival.7:30pm.
And not involving the Middle East or food:
The sfSound Ensemble performs "Critical Band," a large ensemble composition by the recently deceased composer, James Tenney, along with a new composition by NY composer Dan Joseph and a new improvisation-based work by local musician, John Ingle. This all takes place at the ODC Theatre (3153 17th St. @ Shotwell). 8pm.
