Musicians, Literature and Little Cable Cars

litquake.jpgWe are SO all over the upcoming
Litquake Opening Night
at the Regency Center, Friday, October 6. Written word and music kept us sane in our dork formative years, and continue to sustain us. While we used to hope those dork years were behind us, we have learned to embrace it. We can't think of a better way to celebrate and acknowledge these two cherished forces than Between the Bridges, a homage to literature with a fabbo lineup of Bay Area musicians. It's a known fact that almost all writers listen to music, now it's our turn to find out what writers musicians READ and in some cases, incorporate into their work as inspiration.

It’s going to be a perfect Friday night because tickets are only $25, and adult beverages will be for sale, which we need little excuse to consume. We want to see in person how handsome Dan "the Automator" Nakamura is-- you of course know him from Handsome Boy Modeling School. Another handsome and smart guy who will be there? Dave Eggers, with a "special guest." No, it’s not his stylish writer wife, Vendela Vida, but we're guessing she’ll attend, too.

Our Inner Dork will be pleased to hear from Frank Portman, musician, and author of yes, it's true, the widely acclaimed King Dork novel. As music dorks, we've always wondered what it's like to be a member of the Doors (was Jim Morrison really that crazy?), but we promised ourselves not to bug Ray Manzarek with that one because we're sure he gets it at least four times a day. Other awesome appearances will be made by: Mark Eitzel of American Music Club, Jay Farrar of Uncle Tupelo and Son Volt, Jill Tracy, Samantha Stollenwerck, Metallica (kidding! Or are we?) and emcee Ben Fong-Torres.

When: Friday, October 6, 2006, 8pm
Where: The Regency Center, 1290 Sutter St (Van Ness at Sutter)
Call: (415) 673-5716
Admission: $25.00
