Everybody Hates Chris: The District 6 Election

dalycamitopcrop.JPGIt's our column about the sartorial elegance that is the District 6 supervisor election! This week's episode: Everybody Hates A T-Shirt.

You know we've gotta click on an article titled "Supe's Daly Dose of Irritation" on the 'Gate! So it turns out that some SFPD members printed up on t-shirts the one-liner made to Matier and Ross by the head of their union (the SFPOA), Gary Delagnes: "I don't drink Diet Cokes, I drink screwdrivers -- and I don't sit down with Chris Daly."

We're not sure how Daly found out about this, but he was a little hurt. In response to M&R's inquiries about how this was any different from his previous shenanigans, Daly said, "Telling a lobbyist to f -- off, that's kind of part of the public dialogue. But this takes it to a whole different level." And Board president Aaron Peskin noted that it seemed a little weird to have cops wearing the t-shirts in the first place. "The image of cops sitting around and drinking screwdrivers is not an appropriate public image," he said.

Delagnes, unrepentantly mixing the vodka and the orange juice, responded that he was "proud of my members who exercised their First Amendment rights and made these shirts to show what a lousy supervisor Daly has been," and called Daly's reaction "immature, inappropriate" and "unstable." I know you are but what am I!

However, Daly can't be feeling that hurt -- after concluding his remarks, he mentioned, "By the way, do you want one? I have them in three sizes.''

We totally want one!! We couldn't find the SFPOA shirts anywhere online, though, so we were forced to make our own instead (pictured above).
