Our Little Nancy Steps In It
We have to disagree with VH-1's "Best Week Ever" about saying Little Richard had the Best Week Ever because we thought Osama Bin Laden totally did. Why Osama Bin Laden? Because we've heard his name mentioned more in the past week than we've heard in the past year. In fact, the Osama is so hot right now that no politician could go without mentioning his name. Including Nancy Pelosi who said this:
"And if [bin Laden] is caught tomorrow, it is five years too late. He has done more damage the longer he has been out there. But, in fact, the damage that he has done is done. And even to capture him now I don’t think makes us any safer."
R'uh oh.
First, Duncan Hunter (R-CA) accused Nancy of saying demoralizing things to our extremely sensitive troops. Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) then gave a speech in congress with a picture of Nancy behind her and demanded to know where Nancy's loyalties lie. Nancy's co-hort, Dennis Hastert chimed in with a Democrats "are confused about who the enemy actually is" and Majority Leader Leader John "Not Boner" Boehner added that Democrats seem to be "more interested in protecting terrorists than in protecting the American people."
Funny thing, though, as Nancy didn't really say anything that hasn't been said by people like Dick Cheney or the President or Don Rumsfield or the 9/11 Commission. So there. But it is all part of the Republicans plan to highlight Nancy and turn her into into a campaign issue in hopes that her name strikes so much fear in hearts of Middle-American voters everywhere that they vote Republican again. We find it kind of weird that our Representative is being used as campaign fodder in places Ohio or that people in Ohio even really know who she is, but then again, we're not high paid political consultants. To them, we're thinking a strong botoxed woman (read bitch) from San Francisco is attack ad gold.
As for Nancy, she told the Washington Post that she is determined not to be "Swift-Boated" on National Security and then immediately changed the subject to Health Care.
