Annalee Fery from Monsters are Waiting

maw.jpg
The members of Monsters are Waiting have been really busy this summer, touring with Editors and Stellastar, doing a residency at Spaceland, and a solo tour. Now they’re gearing up for a tour with She Wants Revenge and Pretty Girls Make Graves. Somehow they’re managing to show a little love to the Bay Area by appearing at the “Honey Dips and Money Clips” party at Broadway Studios tomorrow and by taking a little time for an SFist interview.

Put yourself in their shoes, you’re really busy and you haven’t been in LA long, but you really want the kind of internet superstardom that only an SFist interview can confer—so what do you do? You answer our questions, but super quick. Which is cool, but could maybe leave our dear readers wanting a wee bit more. Solution? SFist is gonna help out a little bit on this one. Look for our italicized comments throughout.

Best show you've ever played and what made it great?
One of the residency Spaceland shows...really fun crowds and the sound done by Cristo is always good.

Best fans in the world?
I haven’t been everywhere in the world so cant say...ha ha

Lamest request during a show?
I don’t know? Take it off.
Well, did you?

Name
Annalee Fery

Age and Occupation
28, member of Monsters are Waiting

Home Town
Originally from Portland, OR

Where do you live?
Live in Echo Park, CA. I like it here.
For those of you unfamiliar with LA, that neighborhood was featured heavily in Training Day. It’s also known for its current bout of extreme hipsterfication, and as where Elliott Smith and others lived.

Favorite place to spend time online
I don’t spend very much time on line.
Not even on MySpace?

Favorite local business
Truly Vegan

What I'm currently Reading
Just finished the biography of Audrey Hepburn.
Is anyone else bothered by the Gap’s current ad campaign exploitation of Audrey? Save Audrey!

Favorite mode of transportation
Fav transportation is riding my bicycle although I’m lazy.

Best Band or Musician to come out of LA
Hmm, so many can’t say.
Fine. That means you choose X. There. Done.

Favorite LA Stereotype, and whether or not you buy into it
There’s so many and I don’t really buy into categories anyway.
What about the superficialness? The proliferation of implants? Attitude? Cell phones? Paris Hilton Sightings?

Favorite local hangout
Don’t have time to hang out but if there were coffee and a chair I guess it would be my favorite.

LA has the best
Pets.
This is maybe true. SFist was just down there and ended up at a dog beach. Which is basically like what the world would be like if it were ruled by Canines, and we were just their mindless servants.

You've been to LA If:
You haven’t been hiking or been to the batting cages.
Wait! Who has done this? What about the Getty? Moca? That shop that sells 400 kinds of soda-pop? Do those count?

Favorite LA politician of past or present
I don’t have a fav politician, still waiting for one to be my friend.

Now that Mayor Gavin is single, who are you going to set him up with?
I wouldn’t set any of my friends up w/ a politician. There’s my stereotype but it’s not my fault.

You can tell someone is a local here IF
I can’t tell who is local.
Oh, SFist can. We can from a mile a way. There is this stench about them, and a proclivity (among the women at least) to wear a tank top and mini skirt with Ugs and a scarf). What not to wear!

LA would be soooo much better if only
Would be better if it rained more.
Or, you never had to worry about running into Paris Hilton there. Or you didn’t grow old in traffic.

wow. she's not very opinionated on very many subjects. you should have made up answers, sfist.

Ugh. If she's so apathetic, why did she even bother doing the interview? What a waste of space.
