What's the Score, Boys? What Did Bugs Bunny Do? What's With the Carrot League Baseball Today?

Soy un perdedor, the Bay Area teams are winners, baby....

The A's finally stuck it to Texas, 9-6, with the Big Hurt putting the Hurt on again. Even more impressive, they came from four back to do it, scoring six in the sixth. Mark Kotsay, he of the achey back, hit a bases-loaded double to take the lead then scored the final run on a Milton Bradley base hit. Your A's magic number is 18.

The Giants also won as rookie Jonathan Sanchez (not the Sanchez who threw the no-hitter) beat the Reds 3-2. Sanchez pitched 5 2/3 innings to give way to the Felipe Alou Bullpen Roulette Wheel as pretty much everyone but Armando Benitez filled in to pitch. Ray Durham led the way with two home runs. The Giants are back to .500, three games back in the Wild Card standings, and come home to play the Padres with whom they seem to be just absolutely destroying lately.

Happy Day 1 of the NFL Day
