24 Hour Nerdy People

173659981_9a4340dedb_o.jpgFor the week that burners are most burnt out, there's a lot of mess on tap. Even (and maybe especially) excluding the postponed Women on the Web mixer.

Tuesday: The monthly Silicon Valley blogger meetup (every first Tuesday) is happening at Santa Clara's Barefoot Coffee. We're not sure who HyperScope is or what they do, but hey, parrr-tay in Menlo Park, babies.

Wednesday: There's a 'New Tech' meetup at CNet's offices on 2nd in SOMA, offering four five-minute demos in a speed-dating format. Vote for the girl with personality!

Thursday: The hipster video geeks at the Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC [pronounced 'Bay-Vack']) are hosting a happy hour, and videobloggers, documentarians and auteurs better recognize.

Friday: For those of you who carry the trust fund burden, cashed out or went Christian, San Francisco's Commonwealth Club is hosting a discussion about microfinancing and its role in America and the developing world beyond.

Saturday: Think your game for a wifi-enabled Mario Kart DS showdown? Then Canvas Cafe is the place to be. Afterwards, indulge your creative temptations at sleepovers hosted by either the Crucible or the twelfth SuperHappyDevHouse.

Sunday: RE/Search is hosting a party around the publication of their book about J.G. Ballard. Survival Research Labs promises a 'climactic' surprise. Reow.

are you sure about the RE/Search party? Because I went to that last year. it was in 2005. Note the date on the RE/Search web site is Saturday, NOT Sunday.

Diane beat me to the punch ... the JG Ballard book release was Sat. Sept. 10th 2005, and there was nothing about it in the RE/Search monthly newsletter, though Ballard does have a new novel coming out next month. RE/Search is currently taking orders for its Pranks 2 compendium.
