SFist Tonight

oakland-fire2.gifCheck out the YBCA's (701 Mission Street) Sampling Oakland exhibition in the midst of live music and performance from Oakland arts organization 21 Grand.

For years, Oakland has been sprouting performance spaces, galleries and collective live work/environments where musicians, writers, filmmakers and visual artists of every discipline influence each other's work. It's a vibrant artistic community fueled by vision and self-determination. YBCA brings a piece of the excitement surrounding the First Friday art crawl across the bridge.

Tonight from 6:30-8, you can see this exhibit, plus 20 of 21 Grand's artists (yeah, that numerology confused us at first, too), all for the the 6 buck price of admission (only 4 bucks if you're a teacher, senior, or student). And if you can't make it tonight, "Sampling Oakland" runs until October 8, with another collaboration with 21 Grand on September 14.
