Bay Area Blog Round-Up

We're snarky right now, people. Snarky, snarky, snarky. And it's not just a matter of people taking away a planet. Viva Pluto! Honestly, we're all for clarity, we admire it, we think rational decisions about what constitutes a planet or not are necessary, if sometimes painful--but why Pluto? Why'd you have to take pluto? Hell, why not take Jupiter? Damn things too big anyways, why not call it a dwarf star? Huh? Huh? Sigh. We're killing a 40 for Pluto this weekend, since we won't be at Black Rock, although it seems when even newborns can get to the playa we're even lamer than we thought. . .

We're also snarky because we kinda got called out on our demand for more coverage of the Second Annual Bay Area Food Blogger's picnic, so even though this isn't the food blog round-up we're including a link to Becks and Posh here, where Sam does an amazing job of wrapping up the feast and linking to all sorts of coverage. Heck, if we waited 'til next Sunday to give them their due the food would probably spoil anyways.

And we can't decide if we're more snarky over the fact some idiot went on a hit-and-run spree in San Francisco yesterday, or the immediate pouncing on it by right-wing blogs as an evidence of Jihad. Can we clean up the problems with racism we already have before we try to drum up more intolerance?

Lastly, mad props (We're also snarky because we're aware of just how stilted that makes us actually sound, but have no other words for the compliments and awe we wish to throw her way. . .) to former SFist Violet Blue, who crosses over into MSM with her new position at the Chron. Considering that her site is extremely NSFW (though that link is) we're really wondering how her columns will run, and anxiously looking forward to the result.

Pic is from Stop Touching My Food, for no discernible reason other than it made us totally laugh out loud, and we needed that today.
