Meanwhile, retail workers who downloaded the development version of Apple's new OS, Leopard, are getting canned left and right (scroll down). But BusinessWeek thinks good iPod news is on the way, while Wired News explores the back alleys of Chennai in search of smuggled iPods and Powerbooks.

The Valley scuttlebutt is about the return of Frank "IPO" Quattrone after a slap on the wrist from his judge. Silicon Beat and Silicon ValleyWatcher have more. CityMama announces her project, Parents Connect, which we presume has nothing to do with Gavin Newsom in spite of the name. A Valleywag operative meets the cheerleader entrepreneurs of dCongo at the TechCrunch party, and is very, very confused. Might be time to take Susan Mernit's advice and think about getting outside the bubble.

Zoomr's Thomas Hawk wonders why Flickr photos aren't indexed well by Google or Yahoo, and in a startling coincidence, Yahoo just added Flickr photos to their search. This slipped under our radar, but earlier this month someone wrote a hoax post about censoring Craigslist on behalf of The City, but Craig "Customer Service" Newmark foils the plan. Starwood Hotels are starting to develop features and concepts for their hotels using Second Life. No, that's not a joke. MySpace may be the ugliest place on the web, but there are ways to create a profile that doesn't hurt anyone's eyes. And in a peak behind the curtain, someone found a demonstration blog on Vox being used by Microsoft to think up new features for their product, LiveSpaces.
