Animal Roundup

coulter_2275x206.jpgWe haven't done one of these in awhile!

Thanks to SFist Jon, who was looking through the SFGate's CultureBlog, and forwarded along Peter Hartlaub's musings about whether or not Coulter, the horse in the SF children's zoo (pictured at right), was named after Ann Coulter. On the yes side: Coulter has pale coat, skinny legs, and appears to vote along conservative lines. On the no side: Coulter eats a lot, and is male. Also, there appears to be some kind of major donor to the zoo named Coulter as well.

235173295870.jpgIn less fun Bay Area animal news, the family of a sick boy in North San Jose is begging for thieves to return their puppy Daisy (pictured at left). The boy, who just had brain surgery, relied on Daisy for support, and his family says she was crucial in keeping him calm and relaxed. Last month, someone broke in their house and stole their 50-inch plasma TV, the game system, and Daisy.

And finally, the Hells Angels are getting $800,000 from the city of San Jose to settle a case where police officers raided their club and shot their three dogs. The Angels had settled with a number of other municipalities as well, bringing the grand total to $1.8 million. Turns out shooting the dogs violated the Angels' constitutional rights. And bringing it all back to animals again, the botched raid was part of an ongoing investigation into the killing of a bouncer at the San Jose strip club called.... the Pink Poodle.

Actually, there's a lot of speculation out there that Coulter the Pundit might be a man too so that would make her that much more similiar to Coulter the horse. Maybe Coulter the Horse and Stephen Jr. the Bald Eagle could go hang.
