Stuff To Do If You're Bored

9-01-03A.jpgSaturday: We can't wait to see the precursor to the U.S. National Rubik's Cube Championship at the Exploratorium this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Come by any time between 11 and 4 to see some of the best cubers in the business show their stuff, which, we assume, does not involve pulling apart the damned thing. You can watch this for free, with Exploratorium admission.

Sunday (technically): OK, this event takes place on Saturday at midnight, but since that basically means Sunday, we're doing a little cheating, because this event sounds so cool! Hit the Roxie at 12 a.m. for their monthly Crash Cabaret: Where Queers Collide night of video, music, dance, and theatre. This month the theme is "Villains, Vixens and Vicarious Virgins." Tickets are $10 at the door, $8 if you bring a nonperishable food item.

Monday: Want to know what we're doing? Really? We're (we, in this case, being SFists Rita and Eve) taking Apperceptive's David Jacobs out for a drink, as he and his team have been working round the clock to solve our dreradful server problems. Thanks to David and his team, as well as Neil and the GothTech folks, for doing everything they can to get us through this bumpy patch of technology. Here's hoping that things continue to improve.

Tuesday: We saw The Descent at the San Francisco International Film Festival this year, and it f**ked us up. It was a midnight show in the Kabuki's Theatre 1, and we used totally abused our press passes to grab a seat in the almost-empty balcony. This was a really stupid thing to do, as the movie had us, quite literally, curled up in the fetal position wishing that someone, anyone was nearby to keep us safe from the horrible creatures that we knew were creeping up behind us. If you don't love to be terrified, do not go see this movie. For the rest of y'all, check it out at any of these Bay Area metroplexes.
