All Things Must Pass

108480.jpgNow here's something we haven't written in awhile-- the Giants won a game, beating the Nats 8-6. Thus endeth the nine game losing streak. Like most fans of the Black and Orange, we started off this losing streak watching our high hopes quickly sink into all sorts of despair and hair-pulling angst, then found ourselves achieving some sort of melancholy resignation about the whole thing, finally settling on bemused detachment by the start of today's game.

Since we're talking about the Giants here, the victory had to be as agonizing as possible. The Giants were up 8-3 in the ninth only to give up three more runs before Mike Stanton finally sealed the deal. Typically, the Nats ninth inning rally started the very moment we turned on MLB audio to listen in.

Of note of the past two games is the bane of Giants' fans everywhere, Armando Blownitez. Blownitez went into Tuesday night's game, long after the game was out of reach, and was greeted with a chorus of boos. Naturally, the game well over, he pitched a 1-2-3 inning. Upon entering and exiting the game, he made gestures to the fans, egging them on. In today's game, the moment he stuck his head out of the dugout to head out to the bullpen, he was serenaded with boos. Boo rained down him again the moment he entered the game, right after Nick Johnson hit his two run home run, which prompted this great bit from John Miller, who introduced Benitez with a "Ladies and Gentleman, Armando Benitez!" and then just let the chorus of boos fill the airwaves. Oh, Benitez naturally walked the first batter and was quickly pulled by Felipe and replaced with Stanton.

Hmmm...let's see...gets booed everytime he shows his head...gestures back to the crowd...you know, Armando Benitez could very well be the new Crazy Crab.

And speaking of crazy, the crazy thing is that the Giants are still within range of first place and the wild card and with ninenteen upcoming games against NL West opponents, starting off with a home stand against the Rockies, we're just one run from getting back into this sucker and...Dear God, somebody stop us.

Oh, and for those who like getting with the schaudenfraude, Francisco Liriano was pulled from today's game with "arm problems" and his replacement, Boof Bonser was shelled. Today's been a good day for Giants' faithful.
