My brother watches golf on the television and I've always thought he was crazy. My wife thought the same thing about me when I bought a TiVo a few years ago so I could record every stage of the Tour and every other road race televised on OLN.

My only question is, why are all the posts for the Tour filed under Mountain Biking? Why can't we get a category of our own?

It's funny you brought up NASCAR. As I was reading this post, I wondered if watching cycling on TV is equally as fun as watching NASCAR. Seems like it would be.

Now, now SFGary. With our objective hats on we can understand that if you don't golf or cycle, you might think televised golf or cycling to be very boring. We understand that because we feel the exact same way about televised fishing. Perhaps if we were fisherpersons, we might actually enjoy seeing it on TV.
That said, come on! Have you ever watched an entire cycling race, say a stage of the Tour? Have you ever watched an entire Tour develop over two to three weeks? Do you know what a person has to do to race 150 miles a day for three weeks? To climb the brutal mountains? To outsprint a pack of guys doing 40 mph on the flats? To crash on a high-speed descent and get back up and continue racing?
We hated golf on TV until we took up the game and realized how incredibly challenging it is. Once we had that epiphany, golf on TV became much, much more entertaining.
Our advice to you SFGary, take up golf and become a cyclist. Either that or start drinking heavily and stick with the NASCAR.

So, is watching Cycling on TV the same as watching Golf or Fishing?
