Dear Mr Ford

Warning: Contains loud profanity, so depending on where you work...

SFist Cedric took this video last week on the 6 Parnassus. In his words:

The female voice in the soundtrack paid $1, not $1.50 and got upset when she did not get a transfer, because she "had no change." She later paid up the difference. The driver, aka "punk ass white boy" let her on the bus, up to that point. In this situation, the driver only reacts to the abuse of the customer. I did not want to be too obvious shooting the scene, thus the foot.

Ced, we'd look at your foot while a Muni driver swears at an abusive passenger any day of the week!

After the jump: Diamond Lane Disaster!

Jennifer over at Mental Hijinks pointed us toward her post on the diamond lane.

...as any SF denizen knows, nothing in this city works in the strictly technical sense! And in my opinion as both a driver and experienced public transport passenger (in cities across the world), here in San Francisco, the problem begins with the buses, with their dangerous and unpredictable swerving out into traffic (and I'm talking about the driving lane) after picking up passengers; their slow driving so they block not just the bus lane but the driving lane too; their slowing down at green lights about to turn yellow (because hey, we all know they're not in a rush); and their erratic schedules, which mean the dedicated bus lanes are often completely underutilized for spans of 45 minutes at a time.

See her entire post here. And what about you? Any Muni stories to share?

Hoooooly Je-sus!

I actually feel sorry for a Muni driver.

God? Are you listening? Please kill her NOW! Yes, now. I know you haven't been on a roll since OT times, but you think, maybe just this once, you could allow her a slow and painful and gruesome death?

Thanks.

I'll go to church or doing something nice or something. Promise.

sweet that's one of my buses.

can't wait to ride with her.

That's a handsome hairy leg, Mr. Cedric. And "punk ass white boy" has now entered my lexicon forever.

My favorite similar moment was a good 20 years ago traveling with my tourist mom on a 24 Divisadero bus with a beautiful black woman driving. She almost hit a young black woman when she pulled over to the curb for passengers because the young woman's behind was huge and was hanging way out over the curb. The driver, who was wearing a beautiful tropical flower in her ear, gently told the young woman when she got on that it was dangerous to have one's back to the street, and the young woman said in a voice that was like the old woman in "Kung Fu Hustle," the Voice of the Lion that can knock down entire walls with its strength, "SHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT UP!" The driver gently tried again, but this time the force was even stronger: "SHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT UP!"

My mother and I are still trying to reproduce the sheer outrageous fabulousness of that "Shut Up!"

Maybe they were secretly upset at Cedric's frightening choice in footwear. Good God, man. Even Meredith would know better than to wear those punk-ass things.

The 6 Parnassus is easily one of the worst bus lines on MUNI. It consistently has the crappiest buses and has been the site of many a Muni Street Theater such as the one above.

Reminds me of the late nights on the 38 when a drunk bum would enter the bus at every stop. It was then that I learned muni drivers make great body guards. I was less stunned by the 'punk ass drunk ass' than by how quick the muni driver took action.

I'd still rather walk.

Mike: thank you for the compliments about my legs. That is so sweet.

This is like every day in Lower Haight. That woman even sounds familiar.

Once I got tired of the woman standing outside my window shouting "Bitch" for an hour at someone across the street, and shouted at her to shut the hell up, laying into her for about five minutes straight.

It worked; she called me a few names, but it was quiet after that. She probably went off to ride the 6 Parnassus.

The next day one of the guys that's always out there drinking and fighting told me how much he respected what I was saying.

FWIW, the incident takes place on market starting around 2nd and ending around 7th or 8th.
