SFist Blotter

cheapdetective.jpgShoppers trying to enjoy the a/c at the Oakridge Mall in San Jose on Sunday afternoon got less cool air than they were hoping for when the straining mall transformer outside the movie theater blew up. Witnesses reported seeing the lights flicker, hearing a huge boom, and then seeing sparks. In light of the panic and lack of power for the mall, Oakridge threw up its hands and decided just to close for the rest of the day.

Rich bigwigs and fat cats retreating to the storied Bohemian Grove this weekend were faced with those a little bit more bohemian than the grove, as protestors schlepped up to Monte Rio to demonstrate against a variety of causes, including the war, the rich elite, and threats to civil liberties. The creme de la creme Bohemians must have been particularly displeased with the Indian drum ensemble's performance. The Merc News also reports that a few years ago, a Bohemian Grove trespasser who called himself "the Phantom Patriot" was arrested after he broke into the grove to stop what he believed were ritual human sacrifices and child abuse.

And in the depressing crime category: the police are looking for a Daly City man who is a person of interest in the killing of his wife. The police originally thought he'd killed his three children as well, but later located the kids at a friend's house.

And just in case you ever wondered, the list of the latest San Francisco Bay Area blotterific movies we've used to illustrate these posts since February 2006 is after the jump.
