Wednesdays, The New Wednesdays

Hey you kids: get off Wednesday's lawn! Tonight: Nothing says fun like a documentary about a bipolar girl trying to deal with life after her failed suicide attempt! The Film Arts Foundation is screening Learning to Swallow as part of their True Stories: Sneak Previews of New Documentaries series. 7:30 p.m. at the Yerba Buena Center Screening Room, $8.

Thursday: The Surround>Sound series wraps up its San Francisco aural experience at the Luggage Store Gallery at 1007 Market (x 6th Street). This show, called "I Am Sound," encourages the audience to become part of the sound installation through three pieces -- one with people walking around, another with people manipulating electronica and bass music, and the most provocatively, an improv piece featuring audience members reading their love letters. If you go to this, they encourage you to bring a love letter with you. $6-10, 8 p.m.

kingkongbike.jpgand Friday: Many options! Heather Gold (who looked like an egg but felt like a cookie) hosts a talk show-style conversation at the Jewish Community Center of SF with Katerina Fake from flickr, comedian Kamau Bell, and psychologist Lillian Rubin, about the topic of "self-made." ($10, 8 p.m., 3200 California Street).

Or stop by the "heavy pedal rodeo" bikesters Cyclecide's bike/bar/poker run. $5 gets you into the game, which starts at the Zeitgeist from 7:30-9 and will then be continued in a number of bars throughout the city. The organizers promise pie fights and light sidewalk wrestling too, all in honor of Pedal Monster weekend.

We don't know exactly what the King Kong with the bike picture on the Cyclecide website is, but it's cool.
