Man, if you want to go drag-racing, don't kill members of a royal family -- the 18-year-old suspect burst into tears after a judge in San Mateo County refused to lower her bail from $3 million. The DA was unmoved, saying, "Highway 101 is not a video game and it's not a racetrack." That's right -- that's what 280 is.

A rash of bomb threats! Yesterday, the Hall of Justice was evacuated and the bomb squad came to inspect a suspicious-looking duffel bag -- while around the same time in an unrelated incident, someone prank-called in threats at City Hall, the San Francisco Shopping Center (someone hates Abercrombie), and the "San Francisco Tribunal." Not knowing what "the Tribunal" building was, the cops looked over the Chron building and asked Oakland to check out the Tribune. Nothing was found in any of those searches. And, as an astute commenter managed to inform us before the server crashed again, there was a bomb threat on MUNI Wednesday, at the same time as the lady getting hit by the bus. There was a bomb scare at the San Rafael Civic Center post office on Wednesday too.

And a man from Phoenix who was in town for a conference, was struck and killed by a hit and run driver at Mission and Beale on June 24. (We don't know why it took them so long to report this.) He had given some cash to a co-worker so she could take a cab home, but decided himself to walk back to his hotel. If you've seen a white Jeep Cherokee or a white 1990 Caprice with weird damage to the front, call the cops.
