SFist reader Bob writes in with an issue we hear about almost every holiday: Muni buses that appear to be running, but blow by stop after stop after stop with "Out Of Service" on their displays. We not-so-fondly recall Thanksgiving, 1998, on which we had not one, not two, but six 5 Fultons pass us by. We have to wonder if drivers are celebrating by running their routes sans passengers!
Mr. Ford, our 1998 problem wasn't your fault, but Bob's experience happened just this year. What are you doing to end this most unpleasant of holiday traditions? Surely holidays (especially those, like July 4, that involve street closures) are on the Muni calendar, and can be managed a little better than they have been in the past.
On the 4th of July, there were no MUNI buses from the Warf inbound down Polk St after 3:00 pm. If you wanted to catch one you had to walk (or hike) all the way up Polk to Union St and that is a long walk. And then I had to wait for all most 45 min for bus. A lot of them rolled by with "Not In Service" on the front. This is all most laughable. But this happens every year!
What have your Muni experiences been this week, holiday or otherwise? Send any of note our way!

We always joke about how the SF neighborhood "NOT IN SERVICE" must be a great place to live, since so many MUNI buses go there.
I witnessed this Polk St. business on the 4th, but I think something else was going on. The southbound buses on Polk were double coaches, but the 19 Polk line does not normally run double coaches. I wonder if it was some kind of activity prior to the running of shuttles to Aquatic Park for the fireworks?
