We Read The Weeklies

cover-0626.jpgIt's been so long since we did this, we don't even remember who won the last time we read the weeklies -- so we're kicking it off with the Metro, because they have the most easily-accessible cover art on their website. Cover: World Cup madness in the South Bay! We had no idea you could get Lyme disease out on the West Coast. RonGon should try and look sorrier in all his public appearances. And music writer Sara Bir is moving to New York and had to put some records in storage.

Next up, the Bay Guardian: Have you heard of this crazy liberal website called DailyKos? Will PG&E take over wave energy too -- nooooo! Won't we need to adopt Ammiano's health plan for Newsom's to work? Bikers: good news (new trails) and bad news (haters suing). Cover: a reporter who thinks we used germ warfare in Korea. A theater performance of the Chainsaw Massacres. Zakk Wylde and Be Your Own Pet. Marke B's Pride weekend. And SFist Eve's horoscope -- become a detective! SFist Eve could totally solve murders.

After the jump, the SF Weekly and the East Bay Express, along with the Weekly of the Week.

The SF Weekly: Angry letters about how the Independent Press Association ran off with indie magazines' money. Matt Smith hates the guy who sued the city about the bike lanes. (....yeah, we know, we need to post about that. We'll get to it, we swear!) Are you allowed to spray-paint at Market and 12th? Book insert. Another insert, featuring the cover article Summer In The City, which suggests sailing. Meredith Brody likes this one Chinese restaurant because it has easy parking (and an extensive dim sum menu). What to do about Jay-Z's Cristal boycott? And the Bouncer writes poetry!

And the East Bay Express: They don't have enough game wardens in Contra Costa County. Cover article: living versus partying in Jack London Square. Tell us why America roolz, Alice Cooper and members of All-American Rejects. And Scary books about disasters!

Weekly of the Week: It's the East Bay Express! We feel bad for the game warden. Plus, while we were on vacation, we happened to pick up a Village Voice that had former EBX music editor Rob Harvilla's first column in it, and -- they are going to eat that boy ALIVE in New York.

I was in Superior Court and I sat directly across from San Jose Mayor Ron Gonzales and his wife Guisselle Nuñez. He sat with his eyes closed. I don't know if he looked sorry but he did look nervous.

Harvilla was already out of his depth in the East Bay for God's sake, so not much surprise there...
