Another Hole In The Head: Feed

feed.jpgWe thought nothing could put us off our grub. After we saw Super Size Me we left the theatre absolutely dying for a double cheeseburger. Well, Another Hole in the Head finally did it. We've officially given up food. Eating disorder here we come!

Feed is a crime movie that delves into the underbelly of "feeders" and "gainers." It was like the most perverse episode of "CSI" ever with its love of obscure fetishes and subcultures. Feed follows an Australian cop as he pursues a buff and blond psychopath whose mommy issues lead him to seek out large and lovely ladies. The "gainers" languish in bed in all their enormous naked glory waiting for their feeder to show up and hand feed them burgers and donuts and high-calorie shakes.

Like we said, nothing puts us off our grub and this seemed sort of appealing to us but when the feeder started using funnels and tubes to feed his victim fat bongs, of human fat no less, our stomach finally turned. The fact that the baggies of fat looked a lot like the delicious custard cream filling from our beloved Beard Papa cream puffs is definitely going to kill our appetite for Japanese cream puffs for a while too (which probably isn't such a bad thing considering the breakneck pace at which we've been eating them).

Of all the film festivals we've gone to this year, Hole in the Head definitely wins the prize for most enthusiastic audience and delightfully warped organizers. Before Feed started, one of the employees of either the festival or the Roxie walked up and down the aisles throwing McDonalds hamburgers to the crowd while yelling, "yeah, you want it, yeah, yeah, fight for it, eat it, two for you, yeah, eat it." Gloriously sick and hilarious!

I had never heard of this feeder/gainer thing until recently. It is sick! I don't even like hearing about it...makes me uncomfortable ---eww. Also, the theatre throwing out the burgers and taunting people...c'mon SF, we're better than this. This city used to have class...what the hell happened?

I actually saw this already, and it ain't for the faint of heart. The ending, in particular was really a surprise. A good mid budget twisted film, the Aussie grown, cheaper version of a Miike film....
