When will people learn that when it comes down to train vs. car, the train always wins? This one is especially sad: a man suspected of being in possession of cocaine apparently attempted to evade capture by an Alameda County sheriff's deputy by pulling in front of stopped traffic at the 66th Avenue and San Leandro Street Amtrak crossing. The train hit the car, killing him and an unrestrained toddler.

What is going on in Modesto? 3 shootings occurred within 90 minutes in a south Modesto neighborhood last night. Manuel Rayas was killed at 6:10, and an unidentified man was shot in the leg at 6:18. Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder "with a gang enhancement" for these crimes. At 7:42 a 13 year old kid got shot in the butt, and is expected to be fine, no motive or suspects have been identified.

Spas are supposed to be all relaxing and stuff, right? Employees of San Mateo's Belbien Skin Care and Day Spa might need to clock in some spa time themselves, as they recover from being tied up and robbed. The thieves fled on foot, and were apprehended by the San Mateo PD shortly thereafter.
