Your Commute

fire531.jpgAn early morning fire on Market and 10th Street in San Francisco is now safely out, but a fire battalion chief suffered non-threatening injuries to his shoulder when he fell through a floor of the burning building. Market Street was closed for three hours, but has reopened to traffic now.

Those of you driving across the Bay Bridge this weekend, don't forget to take a copy of today's Chronicle with you, which lovingly diagrams out the latest changes to your I-80 commute. The lower deck (and SF downtown onramps) close at 10 pm on Friday, and the crews will be building new westbound lanes that will look like they'll let you off at Fremont Street but will in actuality put you back on the freeway. Caltrans says there may be traffic jams "past Market" in the city over the weekend, and describe the new lanes as a "bobsled run."

...and you know what we always say, finding that third item's always the hardest. Um, DUI arrests were down this Memorial Day.
