SFist Watches: TV This Week
We're still recovering from two weeks of finales glut, not to mention a three-day weekend full of way too many episodes of "The Dog Whisperer," (episode after episode, all Cesar seems to do is convince dog owners to take their pets on nice long walks while saying "Tssst!" and using their "hands as a mouth, for biting." And yet, we can not look away!!). Anyway, all that TV watching has turned in to a big blug. Here's what we can remember: "Lost," WTF? "Alias," seriously, WTF? Yay for Harold, and the Hippies! Meh for Danielle . As for "The Apprentice," poor Donald Trump. The ratings for his series are in the crapper, and the finale doesn't happen till next week, when audiences will be way past getting excited over finales. We hope the series gets fired in the next year.
How 'bout youz? Any opinions on this season's finales?
While this is a bit of a dead week for television, as the networks are recovering from sweeps and finales, and paving the way for the crap they hope we'll gobble down for the summer, we did want to make sure everyone knows that the third season of "Rescue Me" premieres tonight at 10 p.m. on F/X. Last season ended on a hell of a down note, but then again, the series was always about trying to balance comedy and tragedy. It doesn't always succeed, but it has managed to shock us, and make us laugh, and yeah, even cry. And it's also pretty dammed smutty, so if you're a basic cable subscriber who's missing out on the smut of premium cable, well, you won't be disappointed.
Also premiering tonight is another season of "Last Comic Standing," minus host Jay Mohr this time around, even though he kind of helped create the show (it doesn't pay to piss off the network execs). Anthony Clark takes his place, and tonight's episode concentrates on the auditions. And much like the audition episodes of "American Idol," there is no shortage of teh crazy.

And I thought I was the only one mesmerized by the Dog Whisperer! Maybe the "tssst" sound is hypnotic.
So You Think You Can Dance started last week and continues with 2 more episodes this week. Last season featured a few dancers connected to the Bay Area, including runner-up Melody. Unfortunately, the new British host is awful. I miss Lauren Sanchez.
