SFist Blotter
Oh, Redwood High Class of 2006 in Larkspur, your senior prank has gone awry. Fun-loving seniors bought 40 live chickens and set them loose in the halls. Eight chickens died and the rest had to be sent to the Marin Humane Society (though we do hope a couple of them managed to elude capture and will now live in the school, like those kids who lived in the Met in The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler). The seniors might be barred from graduation and charged with animal cruelty. We feel badly for the chickens and all, but the thought of school administrators with nets chasing down a chicken running down, say, the math hall, does bring a begrudging smile to the face, doesn't it?
On Sunday night around 6:30 p.m., a guy was beaten up and hit with a skateboard in the tunnel leading to Golden Gate Park at Haight and Stanyan, while his girlfriend was held up at knifepoint to keep her from jumping in. The police speculate that it was a drug deal gone bad, and that several homeless teens jumped in to protect a friend.
And CBS 5 is reporting there's been an evacuation of SF's City Hall after someone found a "suspicious device." No details yet, but you can download clips of the CBS5 chopper circling the area. (Update: All clear.)
